PILATES HUMAN

PILATES HUMAN offers a variety of live and on demand classes (Mat, Reformer, Tower and mixed equipment). Each class is a unique experience. Classes are all open level. Why? Because the expectation is that all students are fully autonomous. We take a "choose your own adventure" strategy to group class. In our view, being a good listener makes a student "advanced;” it’s not the strongest or the most flexible. PILATES HUMAN teaches students to learn to stop and make good choices for themselves in real-time to become the most capable, agile, and resilient version of self.

Pilates
This class uses calisthenics and small props. Sometimes we move to the tune of traditional Pilates sequencing and sometimes we take what we already know and put it to the test. This class varies in pace and tone from day to day. The game is: defy gravity!
Mobility
What does the Reformer do best? Add balance and support. This class explores the ways the Reformer makes us better at not using the Reformer. Class is open to students with previous experience on the Reformer.
Release
The best of both worlds. There’s support from the springs and a whole bunch of negative space to work with. Class is open to students with previous experience on the Tower.
Mobility
Some would say the Wunda or High Chair is most challenging apparatus. Working on a smaller surface. Tricky spring changes. It's challenging to find a flow in a Chair routine. Our focus will be to become familiar with the fundamentals and then, of course, make it weird.

Signature Offerings

PILATES
The fundamentals of movement start here. Pilates focuses on strengthening your deep core stabilizer muscles. In all workouts you will move through precise exercises that balance out instability in the body, bring awareness on how to properly use your core, and improve spine flexibility. Let’s reset the thinking of how to get superficial six-pack abs, and open your mind to building a solid core foundation.

MOBILITY
The energy you need to perform daily movements. Mobility energizes the body and brain together by activating specific muscle groups that supports daily functional movement. In all workouts, you will actively engage muscles that are tight, weak, or overused to improve total body strength, range of motion, and posture. Sitting is a part of our everyday lives, so let’s form new habits that make us move on purpose.

RELEASE
The natural stress relief. Release deeply relaxes and rejuvenates the body and mind using myofascial release, stretching, and breathing. In all workouts you will immediately relieve tension in the body and brain through movement and mindfulness. Releasing tension in the body is releasing toxic thoughts in the brain.

Who teaches the classes? Anula. Who makes sure everything works? Lindsay. They met while working together virtually during lockdown. Anula has 15 years of experience teaching Pilates and Lindsay brings 15 years of experience in the business world. Combined they decided to create PILATES HUMAN.

"We formed PH because we saw a need for a remote learning practice space. A space where humans can get together and simply move, learn and be in community with each other. PILATES HUMAN takes a "yes... and" approach to movement possibilities. Our mission is to offer as many opportunities as possible for live-virtual classes, emphasizing the human connection. Let’s humanize virtual learning! We don't want students to be strangers to us or each other."

Within the *@?%-storm that has been the pandemic I had the EXTREME LUCK of finding Anula teaching online. Her classes are fun, creative, challenging, informed & inclusive.
